THE DETAILS
TWO WAY STRETCH IN 3D
Jay Grimes named the Two Stretch as an oppositional reach from a strong center. Finding the two way stretch requires a 3D learning of the body to provide the right amount of connection to perform the intention of Joseph Pilates’ exercises. In this workshop we will draw from his system and learn what it means to connect 3 dimensionally to create the Two-Way Stretch.
LET THEM MOVE
“Let them move” is what Jay Grimes tells his teachers. Whether we are teaching a new or seasoned student the body has to move to learn the work of Joseph Pilates. In this workshop we will learn how to prioritize cues, read the working body in front of us, and know how to draw from the whole system so that the student experiences movement.
About Carmen
Carmen Lanteigne is the owner of Aligned Pilates.
Carmen began her journey in Pilates in 2002 as a self-taught student to the mat work. Upon locating a mat class in Edmonton, Carmen broadened her pilates experience by learning how to train on pilates apparatus beginning her career as a professional pilates teacher.
In December 2007, Carmen received her first formal Teacher Certification from Core Dynamics Pilates Studio in Santa
Fe, under second generation teacher Michele Larrson (first generation Eve Gentry).
In October 2009, Carmen completed the Masters Teacher Training Program from The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO under the guidance of Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segel (students of Romana Kryzanowska).
In September 2012, Carmen continued her education studying a closer in-depth lineage of Romana Kryzanowska pilates with her teachers Brooke Siler and Cary Regan at Re:AB Pilates Studio in New York City.
In November 2017, Carmen graduated among 12 chosen teachers world-wide from The Work Program with Pilates 1st generation teacher Jay Grimes and mentoring teachers Sandy Shimoda and Karen Frischman of Vintage Pilates in Los Angeles.
Today, Carmen keeps a very dedicated personal practice, and trains weekly under the watchful eye of her with mentoring teachers through on-line lessons. Attending continuing eduction courses each year is key to Carmen staying current as a student and teacher.
"I believe the work of Joseph Pilates requires lots of practice and with time the body will return itself back to life. It's what I am capable of doing outside the studio in my daily activities that I know this to be true". - Carmen Lanteigne
